Probably because of all the surrounding natural beauty, northwest artistic design often tends to be defined more by its understated elegance, and its ability to present uncommon style with minimal, simple presentation.

An appreciation for craftsmanship and natural materials is another northwest trait that VanLumen exhibits. We collaborate on design with some of the best artists of glass, iron and metals. Our focus on architectural design allows us to work closely with and for some of the most notable architects in the country on both residential and commercial projects.

VanLumen lighting design and product fabrication is directed by and overseen by company owner, Richard Vancil, who has over 22 years experience in contract, commercial, and residential architectural lighting. He has designed, made, and overseen major lighting projects and installations worldwide for some of the most notable public and private locations.

After owning and operating a lighting company that served the hospitality industry for 18 years, and serving as CEO and major contractor for a custom homebuilding company, his interest and skills in custom lighting design and development have combined for the creation of VanLumen AL.
